TiddlyWiki is my friend

While surfing the internet a couple of months ago, as I always do, I found an interesting site that showed a non-linear wiki using javascript to enable the wiki to load sections without reloading the page. I thought it was a neat idea, but it hadn’t been developed enough to where I thought I could use it. But last week, I found a site that showed the new improvements and showed that it could be very useful for taking notes or in a journal. As I took a gander at the new features and the capabilities of it, I was quite impressed. I think this is a wonderful idea that I will be definitely be using when I go back to school here in a few weeks. Some of the better features are these:
- The entire journal is kept within one file–no databases, no mess
- The interface is almost like a blog, in that every time you open up a “tiddler”, which is like a post, it opens up under the one you were just reading
- The script is very fast–no waiting for pages to load
- It’s still a wiki, which means fast editing and easy linking between tiddlers
Hopefully, more plugins/macros will become available and, along with AJAX, this may be the new form of bloggin, note taking, and journal writing. Check out my links for TiddlyWiki for more information.
