Using FTP in Ubuntu through Gnome

Posted by geetarista September 01, 2006

For some time my K2 Wordpress theme has been a little messed up, and I could never figure out why. So when I was trying to upgrade to the newest version, I realized that it was the way I was uploading that was causing the problem. So I found the easiest way to upload files through FTP that has worked every time since then.

All you have to do in Ubuntu is click on “Places” on your to menu bar and then click on “Connect to Server”. You then have a dialog where you can fill out the server type, server, port, folder, and name. Once everything is filled out correctly, just click “Connect” and you’re done! There is now a choice under “Places” that you can click on and it also creates an icon on your desktop. All you have to do is open up your server and enter your password (if neccessary) and you’re ready to go. It’s extremely easy and there is no extra software to install.
